I have passed by the Mosque House on many occasions but haven’t been able to get a satisfactory photo until now. As I was finishing up a real estate assignment down the hill at the corner of West Silver Lake Drive and Swan Place, I looked up at the hiillside to the west above me, and lo and behold, there it was! The Mosque House is an Islamic fantasy overlooking Silver Lake Reservoir right next door to the Becker House designed by Gregory Ain in 1939. With its dome, fortified parapets and minaret (not seen in the photo), the house demostrates the influence of Hollywood on the architecture of Los Angeles during the 1920s and 1930s.Located at 1824 San Jacinto Street in the Moreno Highlands neighborhood of the Silver Lake district of Los Angeles, California.
