Silver Lake-based Architect Leonardo Chalupowicz is not only capable of high-style modern design, he also has a strong commitment to the environment. His Silver Lake home was featured on the Eastside Eco Tour, October 24,2010. The house exemplifies his commitment: recycled concrete chunks for retaining wall, fruit trees, a beehive, vegetable garden, salt water pool with roof solar heater, grey water tank and movable hoses to divert water to the garden; barrels to capture rain water, and a compost bin for garden cuttings and kitchen refuse. The architect is a graduate of the Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires, a member of the American Institute of Achitects, Los Angeles Chapter, Member USBGC, Leed Certified Professional, and serves the community as a Governing Board Member of the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council. Located at 3527 Landa Street in the Moreno Highlands neighborhood of Silver Lake.
