The Silver Lake News Silver Lake's Most Visited Community Website NEIGHBORHOOD ELECTIONS UPDATE!The naysayers prevailed as the Silver Lake Neighborhood Council held a special community vote to decide whether or not to hold regular elections this fall, instead of extending terms for each sitting board until 2010. Each governing board member has now extended their term of office by one or two years by a community vote of 91 to 79. (91 people voted for the measure and 79 voted against; however a 2/3 majority vote was required for the measure to pass). Hardly a mandate to govern, but it seems this new board is going its own way despite the opinion of the majority of stakeholders and certainly the opinion of most seasoned Silver Lake activists. For more information, look for updates in the “Silver Lake Area News” section in this website.
Since our beginning in 2002, the Silver Lake News has proudly focused a portion of our site on the architectural heritage of the City of Angels. With over 700 officially designated city landmarks and literally thousands of amazing homes, buildings and other structures within our 468 square miles, we will thankfully never “arrive”, but the process itself is a true adventure. With approximately 200 photos and brief descriptions, we have barely scratched the surface; however, the “Treasures of Los Angeles Architecture” page is frequently updated! Please check back often!

Attention Architecture Enthusiasts: Our SILVER LAKE ARCHITECTURE page is now easier to navigate! Looking up a particular work has never been easier; if you know the name or address, you can find it by searching in alphabetically descending order or by street number on the SILVER LAKE ARCHITECTURE page.
