Silver Lake-based Architect Leonardo Chalupowicz completed two side-by-side residential projects in 2004 in Silver Lake, at 2216 and 2222 Bancroft Avenue. The architect, who is also an accomplished artist, answered the challenge of the steep hillside by creating a primary residence on the street level, accompanied by a separate studio at a higher elevation, thus maximizing the properties’ potential.Chalupowicz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1955, graduating from Universidad de Nacional de Buenos Aires School of Architecture in 1981. He moved to Los Angeles in 1982, and after working for several architectural and engineering firms for a few years, obtained his California license in 1991, opening his own practice in 1991. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles Chapter.
