Mastoris-Ashford Residence, Orhan Ayyuce and Fumiko Goto, Architects, 1992
Sci-ARC educated architects Orhan Ayyuce & Fumiko Goto accepted the challenge of building a ‘Malibu beach house’ to reflect their clients love for the sea. Built for Tom Mastoris and Cynthia Ashford, the house was completed in 1992. The house sits high on the hill above Redcliff Street, with a view of the Pacific Ocean to the west. As these photos will attest, the house is dazzling with walls of turquoise green accented with a little orange and grey here and there and the occasional objet d’art set in just the right space. There is also a very interesting Playboy ‘bunny’ costume encased in glass, which belongs to Cindy and was part of her wardrobe at one time! The Mastoris-Ashford Residence is located at 1754 Redcliff Street in the Moreno Highlands neighborhood of Silver Lake. Orhan Ayyuce is still designing homes in Los Angeles; Fumiko Goto is currently based in Basel, Switzerland (April, 2009)
